The Anatomy of a Window
The Main parts of a Window do not really lend themselves to any one particular
comparison, so each one is listed by itself.
- Menu bar Shows all available options for a program or window. Think of a menu as
a drawer full of all your tools.
- Tool bar This is where "the most use tools" is displayed. Think of it
as a tool belt on the desktop.
- Address bar Shows location for an Internet site or local drive folder.
- Status bar Shows the status information of the Window.

Once the basics are covered, we can use compassion between a window to a
piece of paper on a desk for the rest of the options.
- Title bar This is the title of the window, like your name at the top of a piece
of paper. The Title bar is also the handle for the window. If you click and hold the mouse
button down on the title bar, you can move it around the screen.
- Minimize To have a window take the minimum amount of desktop space possible,
click the minimize button. This drops the window into the Task bar like a piece of paper
going into a drawer. The Task bar will show the task whether or not the window is
minimized.
- Maximize To have a window take the maximum desktop space, click the maximize
button. This stretched the window out like an architects floor plan being rolled out
over the desk.
- Restore A maximized window will cover over all the other windows and icons on the
desktop. The Restore button places the window back so that more than one window can
display at a time.
- Close (X) When done with a window, you can have it taken
completely off the desktop by closing it. Use the X button to do this.

- You can manually resize a window to make other windows visible. Think of it like folding
and unfolding the paper. Move the mouse to the window frame, the mouse will change into a
double black arrow, then click and hold down the mouse. Move the mouse in the direction of
the arrows to change the size of the window. Then let go the mouse button when you
have reached the desired size.

Note. Clicking the Arrow above will take you

Click the Back button at the top of your screen if you wish to return to another
page.
