Warranty and Return Policies

Extent of Limited Warranty

Comp-U-Talk, Inc. Warranties this computer system to be free from hardware defects in material and workmanship, for a period of one year from the date of purchase by the customer.

For software products, the warranty applies only to the media upon which the product is recorded; and Comp-U-Talk, Inc. does not warrant the operation of any product to be uninterrupted, error free or suitable for any particular purpose. The

Comp-U-Talk, Inc. Limited warranty covers only those defects which arise as a result of normal use of the product, and does not apply to any:

  1. Improper or inadequate maintenance;
  2. Software or interfacing not supplied by Comp-U-Talk, Inc.;
  3. Unauthorized modification or misuse;
  4. Operation outside the product's environmental specifications approximately 50 - 90 degrees Fahrenheit;
  5. Improper site preparation or maintenance;
  6. Memory configuration for additional software packages.

If any component proves to be defective during the applicable warranty period, and if the component is covered by the limited warranty, the customer shall return the product for repair or replacement at Comp-U-Talk's. option. Any replacement product may be either new or like-new, provided that it has functionality at least equal to that of the product being replaced. All repairs or replacements shall take place at the location of Comp-U-Talk, Inc. No on-site work will be done.

If Comp-U-Talk, Inc. Is unable to repair or replace, as applicable, a defective component which is covered by the limited warranty, Comp-U-Talk, shall, within a reasonable time after being notified of the defect, refund the purchase price for the component, provided the customer returns the product in its entirety, including packaging materials, manuals, disks, etc. Comp-U-Talk, Inc. will not refund the cost of opened consumables (paper, ink, toner, etc.).

Limitations of Warranty

Comp-U-Talk, Inc. does not make any other warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, with respect to Comp-U-Talk, Inc. products. Comp-U-Talk specifically disclaims the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent allowed by local law, the remedies provided in this warranty statement are the customer's sole and exclusive remedies.

Limitations of Liability Except for the obligations specifically set forth in this warranty statement, in no event shall Comp-U-Talk, Inc. be liable for any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages, whether based on contract, tort, or any other legal theory and whether advised of the possibility of such damages. Under no circumstances will Comp-U-Talk, Inc. be liable for more than the purchase price of the system.

Hardward Warranty Procedures

For all warranty claims. you must supply Comp-U-Talk with either a copy of the original purchase invoice showing both the date of purchase and serial number of the product.   Any hardware that fails due to defects in materials of workmanship within the first two weeks of ownership will be repaired or replaced at Comp-U-Talk's option.

After fourteen days from the date of the original purchase, all warranties will be covered as per manufacturer's policies.  There is a shipping and handling fee for all printer warranty claims which may be waived, as a service, to Comp-U-Talk customers who have purchased their printer from us.

If within the first 90 days of ownership, you have a warranty claim and cannot tolerate the service, Comp-U-Talk, will supply you with a rental replacement, if one is available, free of charge.  After 90 days, for any warranty or repair service requested under similar circumstances, the rental will be offered at the following rates:

Product Rental does not include technician time for installation and configuration of your software or data.  Rental is only available while we have possession of your system and rental system is available

Hardware Returns
(general)

Comp-U-Talk will buy back hardware subject to the following guidelines:

All merchandise must be returned, with the original purchace invoice, in like-new condition along with all the original packaging material, manuals,  disks, power cables, software drivers, registration cards, etc.  Any missing items or damage will be levied against the refund amount according to the judgement of a Comp-U-Talk Customer Service Representative.

Non-laser printer will be bought back at the scheduled rate minus the cost of any installed ribbons or ink cartridges.

We will buy back merchandise with the exception of software and laser printers, according to the following standardized depreciaiton schedule, referenced from the date of your original invoice.  Though we cannot offer a cash refund, we will be glad to either write a check or credit you account for the refund amount.

Laser Printer Returns

Laser printer may be returned according to the above policies with the following additons.  If toner has been installed, there is a substantial, restocking fee that must be paid in addtion to the calculated depreciation.  A per-page-printed depreciation schedule may also be used instead of the above mentioned one.

Software Returns

Opened Software may be exchanged only if it is defective an only for another copy of the same product.  Unopened software may be returned only if it is in its original unopened package.

Software Support

As a service to you, Comp-U-Talk will direct you to the most appropriate resource to answer your software questions.  The best source may mean the customer should call the software manufacturer.  Comp-U-Talk also offers a variety of computer classes, at compertitive rates, to help get you started.

Special Orders

Special orders require a 50% deposit.  Special Orders are non-returnable.
